Werk & IK (Werk En Ik) – Flagged Agency Page
Public Reporting (Reputable Sources)
A March 2025 report by Het Parool (also referenced by FairWork) described allegations involving recruitment by Werk & IK, including a housing deposit of €150, alleged poor housing conditions, and alleged lack of work leading to debt. This does not, by itself, prove wrongdoing in every case, but it is a relevant public signal.
My Personal Experience (User-submitted)
This is my own experience. It reflects what happened to me and how I understood it at the time. I’m sharing it so other workers know what to check before they pay anything or travel.
| What happened | My experience (personal account) | What I would advise people to check |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit before arrival | They asked me for a €150 housing deposit before I came. I paid it. When I arrived, the rent was “okay”. | Ask for a written deposit policy (refund conditions + timeline) and keep proof of payment. |
| Housing basics / shared house | It was an agency house. They expected cleanliness, but in my case I felt basic shared necessities were missing (for example a vacuum cleaner / common tools). | Ask for an inventory list, house rules, and take photos/video on day 1. |
| Hours not guaranteed | From my side, I felt the agency did not guarantee hours. That made income unpredictable. | Ask in writing: minimum hours, how scheduling works, and what happens if there is no work. |
| Risk of being removed | I felt they could find random reasons to remove you, and then you risk losing your advance/deposit. | Ask for the exact termination rules and which deductions can be applied (and when). |
| Delivery work / tips | In my case, I believe tips shown in the app were not paid out to the worker. | Ask for a written policy about tips (who receives them, how they are paid, and where it appears on the payslip). |
